circle graph instructions
Instead of making bar graphs, today we'll take some data and turn it into a pie graph. Our data will come from a sports team of your choosing.
1. Pick any sports team that you want as your subject of your research.
2. Go to this team's official website and find their ROSTER. For example, you could search "Mizzou basketball roster" or "Real Salt Lake Roster"
3. We want to find out where this team gets most of its players. If it's a college team, you'll find out what state their players come from. If it's a team with players from different countries, you'll find out what countries they come from.
4. Record the data in a spreadsheet. It may look like this:
STATE ------------- NUMBER OF PLAYERS FROM
Texas ---------------------5
California ------------------8
Iowa---------------------- 3
Tennessee ----------------3
New York -------------------1
Missouri -------------------- 2
5. Highlight your data and insert a pie graph instead of a bar graph. It may try to mess up since you'll have 3 columns instead of two. I can help if this becomes a problem.
6. Spice up your chart with pictures for each state/country.
