missouri cities a-z
Here are the instructions for today's assignment. Follow them step-by-step and you'll be fine.
1. Open up a new spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel.
2. In cell A1, type "Missouri City." You may need to make the cell wider.
3. In cell B1, type "Population." You may need to make the cell wider.
4. Open this website by right-clicking and opening it in a new tab or new window. RIGHT CLICK HERE
5. This should be a Wikipedia site of all of the cities in Missouri in alphabetical order.
6. Now, here's where you get to make your own choices. Pick one city for each letter of the alphabet. For example, in the list of "A cities," you could pick Alma. Click on that city and find out its population. Alma has 399 people. It should be in the first line of the page. If it's not there, just go back and pick a new city.
7. Go to your spreadsheet and type your city name and population. In my example, I would type "Alma" underneath "Missouri City" and "399" underneath "population."
8. Go back to our Wikipedia website. Click "back" to get back to your list of cities. Pick ONE CITY for each letter and record it in your spreadsheet. So pick one city that starts with B, one with C, one with D, one with E, etc. Put them all in your chart. There are no cities for X, Y, and Z. Your last city should start with a W, and it should be in Line 24 of your chart.
9. Once you get all of your cities from A to W recorded in the chart, I want you to sort them from the biggest city to the smallest city. Go up to "DATA", then click "SORT." Sort by "Population." And make it "Descending."
10. Type your name on one of the empty spaces and print preview it. You shouldn't need to change anything for it to fit on one page. If it looks good, print it.
